Beach Dawgs Tabbed at No. 15 in AVCA Preseason Rankings

February 16th, 2024

SEATTLE – The Washington Beach Volleyball team has earned a preseason top 20 national ranking for the second straight year and third time in program history. The Beach Dawgs check in at the No. 15 spot in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association coaches poll, which is the highest opening ranking ever.

This marks the team’s 13th consecutive week being ranked in the top 20, going back to last year’s preseason rankings.

The Huskies are coming off the best season in history last year, finishing a program best No. 15 in the national rankings and setting the record for most wins in a single season.

Next Friday, February 23rd, the Huskies take on No. 4 TCU and LSU in the Third Coast College Classic tournament in Houston.

The Huskies will start the 2024 season with 11 new athletes, including three transfers from top 20 programs and eight freshmen. Freshman Kierstyn Barton wrapped up a sensational freshman season for the indoor team while continuing to play for the beach squad. The new class includes Lauren and Sarah Wilcock, UW’s first-ever sister duo on the beach, and UW’s Beach Volleyball’s first-ever international recruit, Magdalena Rabitsch, from Austria.
