SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Beach Volleyball swept Salt Lake Community College in its sole home match of the season, winning 5-0 as it honored seniors Abby Karich and Grace Andrews in their final home match.
The Utes and Bruins played two waves of competition with the first wave counting as the true match. Karich and Bella Vezzani teamed up on court one and picked up a quick 21-8, 21-12 win over SLCC’s top pair. Chloe Narancich and Andrews followed suit with a 21-13, 21-11 victory on court two to wrap up the Ute senior’s careers at home.
Dominating on court three, Kylie Pitzak and Sydney Jacinto downed their opponent 21-12, 21-4, and Sonja Wessel and Azure McOmber rounded out the wins with a 21-10, 21-14 victory on court four.
In the exhibition matches, Utah saw Wessel and McOmber team up, and Lauren Sayre and Savannah Cottam pair together. Also competing in the exhibition matches were the pairs of Narancich/Keira Sheehan, and Pitzak/Siona Thompson.
Utah heads to Tempe, Ariz., to take on Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Park University and Ottawa. Utah opens competition on Friday, Apr. 14, against Arizona State at 10 a.m. MT and closes out the day against Park University at 2 p.m. MT. On Saturday, Apr. 15, Utah plays Ottawa at 11 a.m. MT before closing out the regular season against Grand Canyon at 1 p.m. MT.
