Big Ten Announces Fall Academic All-Big Ten


East Lansing, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference recognized 1,575 student athletes – 150 Michigan State Spartans – on rosters for the league’s seven fall sports to the Academic All-Big Ten Team Tuesday.
 
Of the conference’s 70 student-athletes that finished the semester with unblemished 4.0 GPAs, MSU led all Big Ten universities with 19 perfect academic records.
 
Five Spartan teams; men’ s cross country, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s soccer and women’s soccer, led their respective sports in most 4.0 GPAs in the league. Michigan State Men’s Cross Country, Women’s Cross Country and Volleyball also topped their conference competition in total Academic All-Big Ten selections.
 
The back-to-back Big Ten Champion MSU Women’s Cross Country team showed it’s sublimity off the course as well as it’s six student-athletes that earned perfect 4.0 GPAs are the most from any fall sport team in the Big Ten. The Spartan men’s cross country, women’s soccer and field hockey teams tied for second in the conference with four student-athletes deserving 4.0s each.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
 
Of the 70 spring honorees with unblemished 4.0 GPAs, 19 – over a quarter – represented Michigan State fall sport teams. Those Spartan student-athletes include:
