  • Week two of Big Ten Conference play for the 2022 season gets underway Wednesday with a tripleheader of nationally-televised matches. Big Ten Network will carry Iowa at Indiana (7 p.m. ET) and Northwestern at No. 7 Minnesota (9 p.m. ET), while No. 6 Ohio State visits Michigan on FS1 (7 p.m. ET). BTN will also televise a Friday doubleheader with Michigan State at Maryland (6:30 p.m. ET) and No. 12 Penn State at No. 8 Wisconsin (9 p.m. ET). All BTN and FS1 matches can also be seen on the FOX Sports app, while remaining Big Ten Conference matches this week will be streamed live on B1G+.
  • The Big Ten continues to lead the nation with six schools in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, all in the top 12, with Michigan the top school among others receiving votes this week. The Big Ten has had at least seven schools ranked or receiving votes in every coaches’ poll this season, with this week marking the third in a row in which six Big Ten schools have been ranked 12th or higher in the AVCA poll.
  • Purdue opened Big Ten play with a bang, sweeping No. 8 Minnesota on Sept. 23 at a sold-out Holloway Gymnasium. It was the Boilermakers’ first win over the Golden Gophers in West Lafayette since Nov. 10, 2015 (a 3-1 triumph), and Purdue’s first 3-0 victory over Minnesota since Nov. 1, 2014. It’s also the second consecutive series win for the Boilermakers (they won the second meeting between the programs last year), the first time Purdue has won back-to-back matches against the Golden Gophers since the 1998 season.
  • Just 48 hours after its loss at Purdue, Minnesota bounced back in a big way with a 3-0 win over No. 6 Wisconsin at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis. It was the Golden Gophers’ first sweep over the Badgers since Sept. 26, 2018 (and snapped their six-match losing streak in the series), while lifting Minnesota to 12-0 in Big Ten home openers under head coach Hugh McCutcheon.
  • Michigan picked up its first top-10 win since Nov. 4, 2018, with a 3-0 victory at No. 9 Penn State on Sept. 24. The last time the Wolverines defeated a top-10 opponent, they downed No. 5 Wisconsin, 3-1 at the UW Field House in Madison. Last weekend’s win at PSU was also just the second…
