WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In front of a sold-out crowd, the No. 11 Purdue volleyball team (6-0) was named Reamer Club Xtra Special tournament champions following its 3-1 victory over Milwaukee (1-5) 25-15, 25-17, 18-25, 25-23.
The all-tournament team included Bradley’s Kendall Minta, Milwuakee’s Ari Miller, Utah’s Madelyn Robinson and Vanessaa Ramirez. Meanwhile,from Purdue, Raven Colvin, Hannah Clayton and Megan Renner received honors. Colvin was selected MVP.
Purdue recorded 16 total blocks in the match vs. Milwaukee, a season-best, led by Colvin, who posted eight total blocks (1-7) alongside five kills.
Freshman outside hitter Eva Hudson continued her impressive start to the season, not only registering a career-best 21 kills, but did so at a .395 hitting clip, joining All-Americans Sherridan Atkinson, Grace Cleveland, Danielle Cuttino and Faye Adelaja as the only players to register as efficient as a match while totaling 20 or more kills in at least seven years. Of those four, Hudson was the only to accomplish the feat as an underclassman.
The Boilermakers jumped out to an early and efficient lead, recording a .485 attack % in the first set with 19 kills and three errors on 33 swings.
Purdue and Milwaukee went back-and fourth in the fourth set, seeing 13 tied scores as late as 22-22. Maddy Chinn was on the final three Purdue points to secure the win in four, thanks to a pair of kills and a block assist.
