Boucher Tabs Career-Best 18 Kills as Soaring Eagles Defeat Keystone on Tuesday Evening

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women’s volleyball team avenged its five-match losing streak on Tuesday evening inside of Speidel Gymnasium against the visiting Giants from Keystone College. After getting off to a slow start in which Elmira would drop the opening set, the Soaring Eagles were able to rattle off each of the last three sets.

In the victory, Maddie Boucher ’24 notched a career-best 18 kills, while Asia Curkendall ’25 added five kills to go along with 30 set assists. Additionally, Cassidy Ryan ’24 and Caroline Barr ’25 each added five kills to the ledger.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the opening set, the Soaring Eagles would get off to a bit of a slow start in which they finished the set with a -.091 hitting percentage. After the Giants would go up 14-4 in the early-going, the Purple & Gold would score each of the next five points, but were unable to overcome a 13-5 Giants advantage in kills for the frame, as the visitors eventually took the set 25-14.
  • After the Giants took the first two points of the second, Elmira would tally off six consecutive points with Makenna Clark ’25 at the service position, which featured six kills coming from three different players (Boucher (3), Morgan Richardson ’25 (2), Barr (1).
