SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame travels to Indianapolis this weekend to compete in the 2022 Bulldog Brawl as they face Central Michigan on Friday, Sept. 16 at 3:00 p.m. and Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3:00 p.m. in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

SETTING THE STAGE 

• Notre Dame travels to Indianapolis for their final road trip before ACC play begins against Florida State on Friday, September 23.

• The Irish meet Central Michigan on Friday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m., followed by a match up with Ohio University on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m.

HISTORY VS. CENTRAL MICHIGAN 

• This will be the fourth meeting between the Irish and the Chippewas with Central Michigan leading the overall series 2-1. 

• The two teams faced in 1980 and 1894 where the Irish fell in both, but Notre Dame defeated CMU in the most recent matchup on Sept. 16, 2017. The Irish defeated Central Michigan in three sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-16) in the Shamrock Invitational that year.

HISTORY VS. OHIO

• This will be the sixth meeting between the Irish and the Bobcats with Ohio leading the overall series 4-1. 

• The last matchup between Ohio and Notre Dame was November 23, 2012 where the Irish fell in five sets (23-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 11-15). Out of the last five meetings, Notre Dame has fallen to Ohio in the last four. 

LAST WEEKEND’S QUEST FOR THE CROWN

  The Irish took home the title at the Quest for the Crown hosted by Old Dominon in Norfolk, VA. Notre Dame finished 2-1 after defeating East Carolina in five sets (23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 15-8) and defeating Old Dominion in five sets (14-25, 25-26, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12), but fell to Navy on the final day of the tournament in four sets (12-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-27).

Kaylyn Winkler was selected as the All-Tournament MVP after finishing with 36 kills and 13 blocks on the weekend. She recorded a season-high 16 kills with a .462 hitting percentage in the win over Old Dominion. 

• Hattie Monson also was selected to the All-Tournament Team as she finished with 51 digs. Phyona Schrader was the third Irish selection to the All-Tournament Team as she recorded 129 assists, 29 digs, and 16 kills in the tournament. 

  Freshman Avery Ross finished with 36 kills and freshman Lucy Trump tallied 32 kills this weekend.
