Cairo hosted a magnificent spectacle on Thursday, as the Afro-Arab Club Sitting Volleyball Championship commenced with an unforgettable opening ceremony. Dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, athletes from across the Afro-Arab region gathered at the Cairo International Stadium to witness the inauguration of the tournament.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, graced the occasion expressing Egypt’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports. In his inaugural address, Dr. Sobhi commended the thorough organisation of the championship, highlighting Egypt’s proud tradition of hosting world-class sporting events.

The event witnessed the distinguished presence of Lori Okimura, World ParaVolley President, Ehab Hassanein, WPV Director and ParaVolley Africa President, Anton Raimondo, WPV Director Anton Raimondo, Dr. Amr Al-Haddad, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, whose presence emphasised the global significance of the event.

Amidst the excitement of the competition, the spotlight turned to Dr. Fahd Al-Faqir, Chairman of the Arab Paralympic Volleyball Committee as he took centre stage to announce the generous prize money of 150,000 pounds for the winning team.
