Cajic Named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week After Record-Breaking Performances

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Tennessee outside hitter Nina Cajic earned SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors after a record-breaking performance last week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Over the course of three matches, Cajic recorded 75 kills on .345 hitting, 40 digs, six blocks and four aces for the Lady Vols. The graduate student from Subotica, Serbia, averaged a staggering 6.38 points, 5.77 kills and 3.08 digs per set as Tennessee went 2-1.

More than half or those kills came in a four-set victory against Western Michigan on Thursday night, when Cajic posted 42 kills to shatter the Tennessee all-time record and the SEC modern era record for kills in a match while hitting .500 for the contest. With an incredible 10.5 kills per set during the performance, she bested the previous record of 41 kills by Stephanie Ehlers against Washington State on Sept. 24, 1988.

In NCAA Division I history, Cajic became just the second player during the 25-point rally scoring era to have 40-plus kills in a four-set match. Her kills also marked the most by any DI player in a match this season. Cajic had 20 kills in the final frame of the contest and 30 combined between the third and fourth stanzas to secure the win for Tennessee.

Cajic recorded double-digit kills in all three matches for the week and had two double-doubles. She also posted a season-best four aces against Wofford. For the season, she’s finished with at least 10 kills in all but one contest to the lead the Lady Vol offense.

Prior to Tennessee, Cajic played four seasons at Towson, where she guided the Tigers to four consecutive CAA Regular Season Titles, three conference tournaments championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. In her tenure, Cajic was also named the 2023 CAA Player of the Year.
