Canada’s chase for women’s Paralympic medal begins

The Canadian women’s sitting volleyball team has started their first training camp of 2024 on Thursday, aiming for success at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

This announcement happened on National Women’s and Girls in Sports Day, highlighting their cause as role models for female athletes in adaptive sports.

Coach Nicole Ban guides the team, sharing her skills and dedication to developing talent and helping them reach new heights.

Since finishing fourth in the last cycle, Canada’s rise has been nothing short of impressive, recording three consecutive silver medal finishes in major events, showing their strength and determination in chasing a Paralympic medal in Paris.

They began their silver trifecta at the 2022 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championship in Sarajevo, followed by the 2023 ParaVolley Pan America Zone Championship in Edmonton, and the 2023 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup in Cairo, where they finally claimed the Paralympic spot. With the Paralympic Games coming up, the team is set to show their talent, determination and team spirit on the big stage – not just aiming for medals but also inspiring others to make a difference in the sport.
