Cardinal Sweeps Mustangs – Stanford Cardinal

DALLAS – Led by outside hitters Elia Rubin and Ipar Kurt, No. 5 Stanford swept No. 12 SMU, 25-22, 25-23, 35-33, Wednesday, at Moody Coliseum.

Stanford (14-2, 6-1 ACC) hit .303 as a team in its fourth consecutive sweep. The third set was the longest of the season for the Cardinal.

Rubin led the team with 18 kills on .368 hitting, five digs, three blocks and an ace. She tallied her 1,000th career kill in the third set, becoming the 23rd player in program history to accomplish that feat.

Kurt finished with 16 kills on .344 hitting and two blocks. Opposite Jordyn Harvey chipped in with seven kills and a block.

Setter Kami Miner posted 41 assists, two kills, six digs and an ace. She also matched her season-high with four blocks. Libero Elena Oglivie recorded a match-best 14 digs and five assists.

Middle blockers Sami Francis and Lizzy Andrew combined for nine kills and 10 blocks. Defensive specialist Malyssa Cawa collected five digs and tallied her first career ace to seal the first set win.

SMU was led by Maya Tabron’s 11 kills on .400 hitting, seven digs and three blocks. Naya Shime posted a double-double with 10 kills, 11 digs and three blocks.
