Carlie Cisneros Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week


IRVING, Texas – Freshman Carlie Cisneros was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Cisneros is Arizona’s first volleyball student-athlete to earn a Big 12 weekly award. 
 
Cisneros tallied 34 kills, averaged 3.09 kills/set, and hit .373 to help the Wildcats sweep the Cactus Classic on the opening week of the season. In Arizona’s first game of the season, she recorded her first career double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs against Boise State. Cisneros closed out the weekend with her second double-double – 13 kills and 13 digs – in Arizona’s sweep over Tennessee State.
 
The Kansas City native also served four aces and had five blocks during the Cactus Classic. She recorded 10 or more kills in every match and her 3.73 kills/set ranks eighth in the Big 12.  
 
Cisneros and the Wildcats will head to Alabama State for the ASU Collegiate Cup beginning Thursday, September 5 in Montgomery, Ala. Arizona will face Alabama State in the first match of the weekend on Thursday at 4 p.m. MST.
