Cats Lose to Oregon in Straight Sets

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona fell in three sets (21-25, 14-25, 21-25) to No. 6 Oregon on Sunday afternoon.
 
Sofia Maldonado Diaz led Arizona’s offense with 14 kills and Jordan Wilson followed with 10 kills.
 
Arizona lost Set 1, 21-25. Maldonado Diaz totaled five kills and Wilson had four kills, but Arizona only hit .097 in the set compared to Oregon’s .379 hitting percentage. The set was tied 10 times before the Ducks pulled away halfway through the set.
 
The Wildcats fell, 14-25, in Set 2. Oregon hit .520 in the set and held Arizona to a .071 hitting percentage. Maldonado Diaz knocked down six kills, but the Ducks totaled five blocks to keep the Wildcats’ offense at bay.
 
Arizona lost the match with a 21-25 loss in Set 3. The Wildcats’ defense totaled two blocks and the offense hit .258, but Oregon our-hit Arizona to win the set. Wilson led Arizona with five kills and a .400 clip while Maldonado Diaz tallied three kills.
 
The Wildcats will head to Washington on Wednesday, November 22 before returning home to host Arizona State for senior day on Saturday, November 25.
