Cats Swept by Miami – University of Arizona Athletics

MADISON, Wis. – Arizona lost to Miami in three sets on Saturday night. The first set went into extra points before Miami won 28-26. The Canes won the next two sets 25-13 and 25-17.
 
Jaelyn Hodge tallied a season-high 19 kills to lead all scorers. The defense tallied 7.5 blocks, led by Alayna Johnson with five blocks.
 
Miami won the first set, 26-28. Jaelyn Hodge led the Wildcats with nine kills and a .421 clip. Arizona’s defense held the Canes to a .082 hitting percentage but Miami tallied five blocks to win the set.  
 
The Cats lost the second set, 13-25. Miami took an early lead in the set and the Wildcats couldn’t catch the Canes. Arizona’s offense was held to a .049 hitting percentage and Hodge only tallied four kills.
 
Arizona lost the third set, 17-25, to lose the match. The Wildcats only had seven kills in the set – six of which belonged to Hodge. Despite Arizona out-blocking Miami, the Cats fell behind early and were aced four times.  
 
Arizona returns home for the Wildcat Classic beginning on September 14 against Long Beach State at 6 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
