CAVA BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ U18 VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS UNDERWAY IN TASHKENT

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 5, 2024 – The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Boys’ and Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championships are being held here, bringing together top young talents from across the Central Zone. The championships, which began on June 4 and will conclude on June 10, feature six participating teams in each category, showcasing the rising stars of Central Asian volleyball.

The participating teams in the Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship include Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and two teams from hosts Uzbekistan, while the Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship sees teams from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and hosts Uzbekistan compete for the top honors.

The opening ceremony was a grand affair, attended by high-ranking officials from Uzbekistan, including representatives from Ministry of Culture and Sports along with the control committee members. Their presence underscored the importance of sports development and international cooperation in the region.

As the preliminary matches progress, the competition is heating up. In the Girls’ category, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan remain unbeaten after the second day of single pool preliminaries, demonstrating their prowess and determination.

Similarly, in the Boys’ category, teams from Iran and Pakistan are currently leading the pack with impressive performances.

The Boys’ Volleyball Championship holds additional significance this year, serving as a qualifier for the Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship. Among the competing teams, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan are vying for the top spots, with two teams set to advance to the prestigious Asian meet.

   

This year’s CAVA Volleyball Championships not only highlight the athletic talents of young players but also foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among neighboring nations. As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly anticipate thrilling matches and outstanding displays of skill and teamwork.
