Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week - Oct. 24-30


LANCASTER, Pa. — This week marks the final Centennial Conference weekly awards for field hockey, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball as regular season play has now concluded. The Centennial postseason kicks off this week with four champions set to be crowned this weekend. 

Abby Birk of Johns Hopkins field hockey, Sam Farrell of Franklin & Marshall men’s soccer, and Ellie Streeper of Swarthmore volleyball are repeat winners to headline this week’s selections. Other award recipients include Alexis Loder of Johns Hopkins field hockey, Shay Adamson of F&M men’s soccer, Katie Sullivan of Johns Hopkins women’s soccer, Kaela Frenchman of Ursinus women’s soccer, Sydney Levins of F&M volleyball, Mia Yancey of Gettysburg women’s swimming, and Cami Wilson of Swarthmore men’s swimming.

Offensive Player of the Week

Abby Birk, Gr., M, Johns Hopkins

Louisville, Ky. | Sacred Heart

Birk led Johns Hopkins to a pair of shutout wins as the Blue Jays secured the No. 1 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. On Wednesday against Washington College, she scored the game-winning goal just 1:25 into the game. That win secured the top seed in the tournament for the Blue Jays. Birk then scored the game’s only goal at Bryn Mawr as JHU completed its third straight undefeated conference slate.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Alexis Loder, Jr., GK, Johns Hopkins

North East, Md. | John Carroll

Loder helped Johns Hopkins to a pair of shutout wins in the final week of the regular season. She played three quarters of Hopkins’ 5-0 win over Washington College and made one save while also snuffing out several passes by the high-scoring Shorewomen. On Saturday, she made one save in 30 minutes of Hopkins’ 1-0 win at Bryn Mawr, one of the highest-scoring teams in the league.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Shay Adamson, Sr., M, Franklin & Marshall

Allen, Texas | Einstein School

Adamson scored the game-winning goal during a 1-0 victory against No. 15 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, clinching first place in the Centennial Conference regular season standings and hosting rights…
