LANCASTER, Pa. — Centennial Conference play is ramping up as every team has now played at least two conference games. The conference regular season will continue into late October, with CC playoffs for the sports of field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball slated to begin in early November. Weekly awards are listed below in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball. 

This week’s award winners are headlined by repeat winners Matthew Kleiman of Johns Hopkins men’s cross country, Isabel Cardi of Dickinson women’s cross country, and Sierra Brophy of Franklin & Marshall women’s soccer. Additional award recipients for this week include Maddie Brown-Scherer of Johns Hopkins field hockey, Victoria Kimmel of Swarthmore field hockey, Steven Yakita of Franklin & Marshall men’s soccer, Max Kral of Swarthmore men’s soccer, Hannah Friedrich of Haverford women’s soccer, and Natalie Aston of Johns Hopkins volleyball.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Athlete of the Week

Matthew Kleiman, Jr., Johns Hopkins

Concord, Mass. | Concord Carlisle

Kleiman placed 10th in a field of 340 runners at the Louisville Classic, helping Hopkins to a sixth-place team finish. Competing against some of the top teams in Division III, Kleiman ran the 8K race in 24:41.8 to claim a top-10 placing. 

Athlete of the Week

Isabel Cardi, Sr., Dickinson

Media, Pa. | Strath Haven

Cardi outlasted the 342-runner field that included runners from all three divisions on Friday at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh. She completed the 6k course in 20:54.7, which was seven seconds better than teammate and runner-up Elaina Clancy. The Red Devils finished second in the team standings of the brown race, defeating numerous Division I opponents in the 39-team field. 

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Maddie Brown-Scherer, Sr., F, Johns Hopkins

Mechanicsburg, Pa. | Cumberland Valley

Brown-Scherer led Hopkins to a 2-0 week with two goals and two assists. She had a goal and two assists in the Blue Jays’ shutout of Dickinson on Wednesday. She then…
