Tehran, Iran, August 17, 2022 – Devastating China came out in full force to whip Chinese Taipei in an action-packed affair 25-20, 32-30, 25-22 in their second Pool A match on Day 3 of the 14th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship at the Federation Hall on Wednesday.
China took command in the first set, thanks to their combination attacks and solid blocks. Chinese Taipei pulled their game together, attempting to catch up with China’s exceptional tactics. However, the formidable Chinese intensified their defence, allowing the rivals attacking difficulty. China clinched the set 25-20.
After conceding one set, Chinese Taipei initially found their touch as they surged into a two-point lead at 18-16 in the second set. Inspired by the victory, the determined Chinese regained their composure to catch up with the formidable rivals. The scores were moving back and forth among the two teams with just one point behind. Still, China fared better at home stretch to seal the hotly-contested set 32-30 to stretch it to 2-0.
The third set was the similar script when Chinese Taipei remained in superb form to race to an initial 7-4 lead before the Chinese upped their tempo and bounced back mightily to trail one point at 7-8. Despite putting up a brave fight, Chinese Taipei found China unstoppable to go down 22-25.
Captain Zeng Yangjie chipped in with 14 points for China including 11 attacks, while Gao Yuning added 13 points. Lin Ting-Wei led Chinese Taipei with 13 points.
China will next take on Kuwait, while Chinese Taipei will be pitted against hosts Iran on Thursday, the final day of the pool preliminaries.
