World ParaVolley is thrilled to announce the appointment of Chrissy Benz as the Assistant Sport Director for sitting volleyball, a move set to revolutionise the discipline with her unparalleled expertise in fostering inclusive sporting environments.
“Chrissy’s experience in leadership and administration will be critical to the evolution of sitting volleyball over the next 4 years, as we deliver on the World ParaVolley strategy to create more opportunities to showcase our athletes and build capacity and capability in our ITOs and systems,” World ParaVolley Sport Director Stephen Giugni said.
With over two decades of experience in sport management, Benz brings a wealth of knowledge and proven track record of success to her new role. Having held a number of directorial positions with organisations such as NORCECA, Pan American Volleyball Union and Volleyball Canada, she has demonstrated her ability to excel in organising and hosting international tournaments of the highest calibre.
Throughout her career, Benz has overseen the successful execution of major sporting events, including the Olympic Qualifiers, FIVB World Grand Prix and the Volleyball Canada Club Championships, the largest single amateur sport event in her country. Her exceptional event management expertise at the international level makes her an invaluable addition to the World ParaVolley Sport Department team.
Her dedication to inclusivity and accessibility in sports is evident in her extensive involvement in Para sport events across Canada, where she has worked with various disciplines, including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and sitting volleyball.
As the former manager of the Canadian women’s volleyball team and lead sport equity consultant and coach for Humanity in High Performance Consulting Co, Benz has her vision of creating accessible, safe and equitable sporting experiences for all athletes.
In her new role as WPV’s Assistant Sport Director for sitting volleyball, she is poised to lead the charge in advancing the sport to new heights. Her appointment is a significant step forward in promoting inclusivity and excellence within the sitting volleyball community, and World ParaVolley is proud to have her on board.
