SCRANTON, PA. β The Cortland women’s volleyball team finished off a 2-0 weekend at the Scranton Electric City Invitational with a 3-1 victory over Haverford College. The Red Dragons defeated the Fords, 25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, to improve to 7-2 on the season.Β

Anna Pilkey (Ballston Spa) finished with a team-high 16 kills with three errors on 38 attempts for a .342 attack percentage. Ashley Siergiej (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) had 10 kills and two errors in 18 attempts for a .444 attack percentage. Allie Sturgess (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) added nine kills, Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) and Alexa Guedez (Mamaroneck/Rye Neck) each had seven kills, and Lexy Bloss (York, PA/Dallastown Area) recorded six kills and one error in 15 attempts.Β

Ryan Hinshaw (Aurora, IL/Joliet Catholic Academy) led the Red Dragons with 23 assists, followed by Meadow Wittman (Colden/Springville Griffith Institute) with 17. Mikenzie Martens (Carthage) totaled 26 digs and Sturgess had 18 digs.Β

Gia Frank, Taylor Jones, Kira Chaney and Claire Jordan finished with eight kills apiece for Haverford (3-5). Kayla Chu totaled 23 assists and Juliet Young had 22 digs.Β

Cortland took an 11-4 lead to open the first set and was never seriously pushed. The Red Dragons led 21-18 in the second set before scoring three straight points on a Pilkey kill, a Cortland error and a Guedez kill. Haverford answered with two points before Pilkey’s kill ended the set.Β
