Cougs host season finale against 24h-ranked Huskies Friday on Pac-12 Washington


PULLMAN, Wash. – 25th-ranked Washington State volleyball (21-9, 13-6 Pac-12) gets set to host its 2022 regular season finale against Apple Cup rival, 24th-ranked Washington (19-9, 11-7 Pac-12) Friday night in Bohler Gym.  Friday’s match will be televised live on Pac-12 Washington with first serve slated for 6:04 p.m.

The Cougars will recognize their lone graduating senior, Laura Jansen, prior to the start of Friday’s match in Bohler Gym.  Jansen, a fifth-year graduate transfer from the University of Arkansas- Little Rock, was a two-time First Team All-Sun Belt selection before transferring to WSU, and accumulated over 1,000 career kills in her first four years of collegiate volleyball.  An international outside hitter originally from the Netherlands, Jansen surpassed the 1,000 career digs mark as a Cougar and has five double-doubles and four 20-kill matches on the 2022 season.  She had a season-high 27 kills in a five-set win over Arizona earlier this season in Bohler Gym and leads the Cougs with 3.47 kill/set going into Friday’s season finale.

>> The Cougs saw a four-match winning streak snapped on Tuesday after UCLA outlasted WSU in a close fifth set in Bohler Gym.  WSU led 8-7 at the fifth-set changeover and went up 9-7 before the Bruins closed the match on a 6-2 run to finish off the upset on the road.

>> The Cougars rank No. 16 in the NCAA with a .279 hitting percentage as a team. The Cougs’ .279 (1452-494-3436) hitting percentage would rank as the second-highest for a team in WSU history behind the 1996 NCAA Elite Eight team.

opponents are averaging just .178.
