Crawford Repeats as ACC Freshman of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Having continued her stellar freshman campaign with the Wake Forest volleyball squad, Paige Crawford landed her second-straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Week nod on Monday (Oct. 17), announced by the conference office.

The recognition came a week after Crawford earned her first career ACC Freshman of the Week honor on Oct. 10. She is the first Demon Deacon to notch back-to-back weekly awards in the head coach Randi Smart era. Additionally, Wake Forest’s three total weekly freshman selections are the most in a single season in program history thus far.

“Paige continues to impress and stand out in the ACC,” said head coach Randi Smart. “She has put together some impressive offensive matches and gets better on a daily basis.”

Crawford led the team in kills during contests against Notre Dame (13) and No. 2 Louisville (16). The outside hitter’s 10 digs versus the Fighting Irish gave her a fourth double-double in the last six matches. For the weekend, she hit over 31% from the floor and collected 17 digs.

Crawford remains the only true freshman in the ACC to stand as a top-10 individual in kills-per-set (3.29). Additionally, she moved to the top of the Wake Forest leaderboard in kills less than two weeks ago (194).

Wake Forest prepares for road matches at Miami (Oct. 21) and Florida State (Oct. 23) this week.
