Croatia, USA, Ukraine secure second victories to dominate second day of men’s qualifier

The action continued to unfold at the 2024 WPV Sitting Volleyball Final Qualifiers for Men, presented by Delin Company, at the Dali International Olympic Sports Centre on Thursday.

Day 2 witnessed gripping showdowns as teams battled fiercely to start a good momentum in the tournament.

In the nail-biting encounter between two European squads – Poland and Croatia – both left everything on the court in a bid for victory. In spite of Poland’s fight, Croatia emerged triumphant in a thrilling five-set match with a final score of 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 15-11).

While Croatia celebrated their second win of the tournament, Poland displayed commendable performances in both their outings.

Canada showcased their proficiency in a dominant display against Japan, claiming a convincing victory in straight sets. With a commanding performance, they secured their first win of the tournament with a scoreline of 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-10), bouncing back from their opening day loss to the United States. Meanwhile, Japan suffered their second defeat in the tournament.

In another exciting fixture, Iraq and USA delivered an intense matchup, and despite the former’s determined effort to bounce back from their previous loss, USA proved to be a stronger opponent as they secured a 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 27-29, 25-20) win.

Team USA continued their winning streak, while Iraq faced their second consecutive defeat in the tournament.

In the highly anticipated clash between Ukraine and hosts China, both teams sought to maintain their winning streak from the opening day. However, it was the European squad that dominated the court, securing a win 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18).
