PITTSBURGH – Head coach Dan Fisher was named the AVCA Division I National Coach of the Year, announced by the organization on Thursday. He has led the Panthers to a 33-1 overall record and 19-1 ACC record, resulting in an outright ACC Championship. The Panthers have advanced to four consecutive National Semifinals and five straight Regional Finals, the only program in the country to do so.
Fisher was named the 2024 ACC Coach of the Year and AVCA East Coast Region Coach of the Year this season for the third time in his career. The Panthers were named the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever and won their sixth ACC Championship. Fisher owns a 320-68 record at Pitt in his 12 seasons and has led the Panthers to nine consecutive NCAA Tournaments. Pitt has won more matches than any other Division I program in the past five years.
He has guided sophomore sensation Olivia Babcock to become the 2024 ACC Player of the Year and AVCA East Coast Region Player of the Year. Babcock is an AVCA Player of the Year finalist and leads the conference in points per set, kills per set and aces per set. For the second straight season, all seven starters were named All-ACC and AVCA East Coast Region.
