SEATTLE — After playing five of the first six weeks of the season away from home, the Huskies are back in Alaska Airlines Arena for the next two weeks, starting with a bang on Friday, Oct. 6, against No. 3 Stanford. The four-match homestand gives Washington (10-5, 1-3 Pac-12) a chance to build on its first Pac-12 win which came in its last match on Sunday at Oregon State. UW and Stanford have an 8 p.m. start Friday night, broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.

After facing the defending conference champion Cardinal, the Huskies will get another challenge from a revitalized Cal Bears squad coached on an interim basis by former Husky All-American Crissy Jones. California went 11-0 in nonconference and got its first Pac-12 win in three years over Arizona last week. The Huskies and Bears will be live stream-only on GoHuskies.com this Sunday, Oct. 8, starting at 12 noon.

Washington completed its latest three week road stretch with a split at the Oregon schools last week, taking set one at 6th-ranked Oregon before falling in four, then losing the first set at Oregon State before winning the next three. May Pertofsky has led the Husky offense in the four Pac-12 matches with 3.13 kills per set, hitting .279. Freshman Kierstyn Barton has also been in double-digit kills her past three matches, averaging 3.00 per set in conference. Madi Endsley is coming off a bit match against the Beavs, as she had 18 kills and hit .350.

Washington has hit .228 in Pac-12 play thus far, but opponents are hitting .265. UW is outblocking opponents, 2.00 to 1.73, but the Huskies have had less success at the service line than they did in nonconference, with just 10 aces over the first four Pac-12 matches.

Stanford is up to third in the coaches poll with an 11-2 record and a 4-0 start in conference. Through four Pac-12 matches, Stanford is hitting .293, tops in the league, and its 3.94 blocks per set in league play is by far the conference’s best. Kendall Kipp leads the team with 4.17 kills per set on the year, and she is second in the Pac-12 with 0.46 aces per set. Kami Miner is leading the league with 11.75 assists per set. Sami Francis…
