SEATTLE – Husky Volleyball has landed a veteran floor captain as Wichita State setter Kayce Litzau has committed to Washington for the 2023-24 school year. Litzau has over three-thousand career assists and was voted to the 2021 AAC All-Conference Team.
Litzau is the second new Dawg to come through the transfer portal this offseason, joining former Michigan MB/OH May Pertofsky.
Washington Head Coach Leslie Gabriel says the Huskies are getting a consistent and proven setter at the DI level.
“It was in my first conversation with Kayce that I knew she could be a good fit for our program and when she came out on her visit she confirmed it,” said Gabriel. “It was her maturity, team-first attitude, and quiet competitiveness that attracted me to her. We are excited she is a Husky and can’t wait to get going with her in the gym this fall.”
Last season with the Shockers, Litzau started all 31 matches and appeared in all 121 sets, ranking 33rd nationally and second in the AAC with 1,209 assists. WSU was 18-13 overall and 13-6 in conference play, competing in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
In 2021, Litzau helped the Shockers to a 19-10 record, earning Second Team All-AAC after leading the conference with 10.18 assists per set. She also has compiled 797 career digs, 113 career blocks, 157 career kills, and 74 career aces.
“I chose the University of Washington Volleyball program because I felt welcomed and at home immediately with Tui, Mike, Manolo, and the team,” says Litzau. “I loved seeing how much everyone cared for each other and the program. I am so excited to be on campus and in Seattle. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this incredible program and compete in a Husky uniform!”
