DUELS SET FOR 2024 ASIAN WOMEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP IN THAILAND

Chartchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand is ready for the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Championship

Bangkok, Thailand, September 11, 2024 – Nakhon Ratchasima, known as Korat, a city with an estimate distance of 269km northeast of Thailand’s capital city Bangkok, gets set to host the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at the 5,000-seater Chartchai Hall between September 22 and 29, with all participating teams confirmed during the drawing of lots on Wednesday.

The drawing of lots took place at the AVC Headquarters in Bangkok on Wednesday, with AVC Executive Director Mr Shanrit Wongprasert conducting the ceremony and AVC Staff Mr Pavarit Dairinram and Ms Nattalida Sumdangdech assisting. Representatives from eight participating teams also joined the ceremony on Zoom.  

 

According to the results of the drawing of lots, Pool A comprises hosts Nakhonratchasima QminC VC, silver medallists at the 2021 edition in Thailand, Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC, champions in the 2022 edition on their home soil and 6th at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship in Turkey, Kwai Tsing from Hong Kong, China and Duc Giang Chemical Club from Vietnam B.

Powered by star spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, LP Bank Ninh Binh of Vietnam A, silver medallists at the 2024 Binh Dien International Cup in Dak Lak, are in Pool B with NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki from Japan, winners in 2016 in Philippines, Iran’s Saipa Club and Philippines’ Monolith Sky Risers. 

On September 22, the very first day of the championship, hosts Nakhonratchasima QminC VC will take on Kwai Tsing and Kuanysh VC will challenge Duc Giang Chemical Club in Pool A, while Pool B encounters will see NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki face off against LP Bank Ninh Binh and Saipa Club play Monolith Sky Risers.

Nakhonratchasima QminC VC will next go up against Kuanysh VC on September 23, with Kwai Tsing meeting Duc Giang Chemical Club. The other two matches will see LP Bank Ninh Binh take on Monolith Sky Risers and NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki fight it out with Saipa Club.

On September 24, the final day of the pool round-robin preliminaries, Kuanysh VC will play Kwai Tsing and Nakhonratchasima QminC VC will test their mettle against Duc Giang Chemical Club in Pool A, with Saipa Club challenging LP Bank Ninh Binh and Monolith Sky Risers taking on NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki.
