Duke Defeats Davidson in Exhibition

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team defeated Davidson, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-14), in exhibition action Saturday afternoon in Davidson, N.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Graduate student Gracie Johnson led the team offensively with 12 kills and only three errors to hit .375 for the match, while sophomore Kerry Keefe added eight. Graduate student Jess Robinson tallied seven kills to hit .700 percent. 
  • Graduate student Emma Worthington made her Blue Devil debut and dished 25 assists, while libero Madison Bryant picked up nine digs. 
  • Four Blue Devils registered solo blocks – Taylor Atkinson, Ngozi Iloh, Rylie Kadel and Johnson – while Worthington led the team with two aces. 
  • Head coach Jolene Nagel‘s team hit .330 for the match and limited Davidson to a .090 clip for the match. 

NOTABLES

  • Nagel entered her 25th season at the helm of the Blue Devils prior to Saturday’s contest. 
  • The match featured six tie scores and four lead changes. 
  • Four Blue Devils – Christina Barrow, Millie Muir, Robinson and Worthington – saw action for the first time in their Duke careers.
