SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Duke volleyball team swept Syracuse, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-9), Sunday afternoon at the Women’s Building in Syracuse, N.Y.
With the victory, the Blue Devils improve to 12-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play as the Orange drop to 2-16 and 0-8 in the ACC.
Duke nearly cleared its bench this afternoon as 16 different players saw time on the court. Offensively, Kerry Keefe led all kill leaders with eight while Lizzie Fleming and Jess Robinson combined for 12 kills and no errors on 20 swings. Rylie Kadel added five kills on no errors to hit .625 percent as the Blue Devils played to a .462 hitting percentage as a team.
Setter Emma Worthington dished 33 assists while Gracie Johnson and Keefe led the team with six digs each. Keefe paced the defensive unit with four blocks while Kadel and Robinson each had three blocks apiece. The Orange did not tally a single block during the match.
Syracuse hit just .011 percent for the match, marking the fifth time this season Duke has held its opponents to below .100.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke got hot quickly and maintained its momentum throughout the entire match, starting with a .323 first-set hitting percentage.
- Syracuse saw its best offensive performance in the second set (.154 percent) but it was no match for the Blue Devils’ hight-powered attackers. As a team, Duke knocked in 14 kills and committed just two miscues for a .444 clip.
