Elisaia Named Big Ten Setter of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Seleisa Elisaia was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week on Monday. The graduate student earned the award for the first time in just her second week of competition with the Nittany Lions.

Elisaia averaged 12.40 assists/set and 1.70 digs/set to lead Penn State to wins over Iowa State, Troy, and LSU at the Tiger Challenge this past weekend. She guided the team to a .286 hitting percentage over the three wins and now leads the Big Ten in assists/set at 11.24.

Penn State remained unbeaten on the season thanks to its performance at LSU, adding those three wins to the three it racked up at the season-opening Penn State Invitational. The Lions came in at No. 20 in Monday’s AVCA Coaches Poll.

Penn State faces a tough test when it next returns to the court. The Lions will play No. 11 Stanford and No. 18 Oregon on Sept. 9-10. The matches are part of the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge and will be played at Minnesota’s Maturi Pavilion. The match against the Cardinal will air live on the Big Ten Network.
