HILTON, N.Y. – The United Volleyball Conference announced its 2024 individual awards and all-conference teams on Wednesday, April 10. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches. Amongst the recipients was Elmira’s Edwin Sosa ’25, who garnered UVC Honorable Mention after a successful 2024 regular season.
A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Sosa finished the season with a career-high 285 kills and 3.85 kills per set for the Soaring Eagles. Sosa also set a new career-high in a victory over Buffalo State as he notched 27 kills to go along with four solo blocks.
He finished the season with 16 service aces, 100 digs, 18 solo blocks, and 37 total blocks, and accounted for 328.5 points (4.44 points per set) for the Soaring Eagles. In the NCAA DIII national rankings, Sosa checks in at No. 35 in attacks per set (8.46), No. 20 in kills per set (3.85), and No. 23 in points per set (4.44).
This is the first UVC All-Conference recognition for Sosa, who was named to the Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference squad in 2022 and 2023. The 2024 Empire 8 Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Awards will be released on Thursday, April 11 at 2:00 P.M.
