PITTSBURGH – Rachel Fairbanks and Olivia Babcock have been named ACC Setter and Freshman of the Week, respectively. Fairbanks earns her first ACC honor this season while Babcock notches her third.
Fairbanks ran an efficient offense this weekend, registering 42 assists, eight digs, five kills, two aces and a block in the reverse sweep against No. 11 Georgia Tech on Friday. Pitt hit .294 in the match while four Panthers recorded at least 10 kills. Against Clemson, Fairbanks recorded 41 assists in the sweep, averaging 13.7 assists per set. In addition, she added six digs, two aces and a block.
Babcock continued to impress this past weekend, recording a team-high 19 kills hitting .368 on Friday night against the Yellow Jackets, adding six blocks, five digs and three aces. The following match she followed that performance up with 16 kills, five digs, three aces and a pair of blocks against Clemson.
