Fifth Set Rally Fuels Boilermakers to Victory

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 11 ranked Purdue volleyball program remains undefeated at 5-0 after a thrilling five set victory over No. RV Utah (3-2), 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, 26-28, 15-9.

Despite the Utes taking the 8-7 edge midway through the fifth set, Purdue took the next five straight points to pull away, three of which came at the hands of Raven Colvin during her serving tear. Moreover, two of her three points came on service aces.

The sophomore capitalized on the most touches of her career, producing a career-high 18 kills and a key five aces. Not only is it the third time this season Colvin has hit above .400, but stands as the most efficient match the middle blocker has yet to have in the Old Gold and Black.

Megan Renner led the Boilermakers with 54 assists, a benchmark only reached three times since the 2018 season. Additionally, the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native went errorless on the attack with three kills on seven attempts (.429%), adding four digs and a pair of block assists.

Leading the offensive effort was Eva Hudson (18 kills) and Colvin (18 kills). Additionally, middle blocker Hannah Clayton fueled the Boilermakers with 14 kills, with just one error on 23 swings for a .565 attack % and remained errorless until the final points of the fourth set.
