Fingall & Granberry Garner SEC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On Sunday, the Southeastern Conference announced its 2022 volleyball postseason awards. Senior Morgahn Fingall was tabbed All-SEC and named the league’s scholar-athlete of the year, while freshman Keondreya Granberry garnered all-freshman team accolades.

The awards were voted on by the league’s coaches.

It is the first All-SEC honor for Fingall and she becomes just the second player in program history to be named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year – joining LVFL Nikki Fowler who earned the recognition in 2010.

Granberry is the first Lady Vol since Lily Felts in 2018 to be named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Fingall finished the regular season with a career-high and team-leading 458 kills, averaging an SEC-best 4.36 kills per set. The Fairfax, Virginia, native also averaged 5.10 points per set this season – tops in the conference.

The right-side attacker’s 458 mark is the fourth-highest single-season kill total in Tennessee history during the 25-point rally-scoring era. During the 25-point era, Fingall’s 4.36 kills per set average is second-best by a Lady Vol.

Nationally, Fingall ranks 12th in points per set and 17th in kills per set.

Off the court, she is majoring in kinesiology with a minor in public health. Fingall holds a 3.62 GPA and is currently enrolled in graduate-level classes while finishing up her remaining undergraduate coursework. She has been named to the dean’s list on five occasions and is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Last week, she earned CSC Academic All-District Team accolades for the first time in her career.

For Granberry, she is the 10th player in program history to earn SEC All-Freshman Team honors. The 6-3 middle blocker was slowed in the preseason by injury, but came off the bench in UT’s first match of the season against Loyola Chicago and sparked a Lady Vol victory.

Since the opening match, she has been a fixture in the starting lineup and finished the regular season with a team-leading 97 blocks. Granberry added 140 kills – third-most on the team – and averaged 1.28 kills per set.

Since taking the reins of the Tennessee volleyball program in 2018, Eve Rackham Watt has placed at least one player on the All-SEC Team each year. The five-year run is the longest for UT since a five-year streak from 2008-12.
