FIVB MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION COMMISSION DISCUSS COMMERCIAL AND DIGITAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SPORT

The Commission held its annual meeting online this week

The FIVB Marketing and Communication Commission met via videoconference this week to discuss the marketing, commercial and digital framework for international volleyball and beach volleyball events.

The Commission heard a presentation from Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor on the commercial arm of volleyball’s work over the last few years and key areas for future development. The updates were related to sponsorship, marketing, digital and media, in addition to event operations in a year which included 49 stops for volleyball and beach volleyball across all five continents. In particular, 2022 saw 306 match days – 156 volleyball and 150 beach volleyball.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° opened the meeting by sharing the latest achievements of volleyball and beach volleyball in regards to media, digital and TV numbers, stating:

“Our TV and social media numbers speak for themselves. We have a strong following on social media, with more than 22 million followers across all our online platforms. Since launch, Volleyball TV, the first over-the-top digital streaming platform in volleyball history, has continued to grow with significant subscriber numbers in countries such as Thailand, the USA, Italy and Japan, to name a few.

“As you will remember, in the past we had around 30 countries showcasing our events. These days, for the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and top beach volleyball events, matches are being broadcasted in up to 130 countries around the world.”

The Commission President and former NBC Executive Vice-President, Peter Diamond, added:

“International volleyball is a gem that we must continue to popularise for the broader audience. I would like to applaud the FIVB and Volleyball World for improving the sports presentation and other elements of the sport, which ensure the further development of volleyball and beach volleyball worldwide.”

The FIVB Commission meetings will continue with the Beach Volleyball Commission on 7 December, Legal Commission on 12 December and Medical on 13 December.
