INDIANAPOLIS — The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its all-conference selections for women’s volleyball Thursday (Nov. 16), with Lewis University receiving five All-GLVC honors. Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg), Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic), Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs), and Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) were all first team selections, while Ally Hickey (Granger, Ind./Penn) earned a second team spot.
Schlechte led the Flyers and ranked sixth in the GLVC in kills with 380 (3.52/set) this season. The senior posted a .234 attack percentage and added 373 digs (3.45/set), 39 blocks and 37 service aces this year. Schlechte also had the most service receptions for Lewis at 536, with a .961 receiving percentage.
Ray recorded 223 kills this season (2.90/set), and had 89 blocks (1.16/set) to lead the Flyers and the GLVC in blocks per set. The senior posted a .335 attack percentage, good for seventh in the conference this year.
Van Loo led the Flyers and ranked fourth in the GLVC this season with a .367 attack percentage. The senior had 367 kills (3.37/set), good for eighth in the conference, adding 57 blocks and 98 digs. Van Loo was also Lewis’ GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award Honoree.
Stenman finished third in the GLVC with 1159 assists (10.73/set), with 108 kills (1.00/set), 230 digs (2.13/set) and 30 service aces. The senior helped the Flyers to a .263 attack percentage as a team, second-best in the conference.
Hickey led the Flyers and finished third in the GLVC in digs with 543 (4.98/set). The senior chipped in 88 assists and 29 service aces, while helping Lewis hold opponents to a .175 attack percentage, fourth-best in the conference.
Lewis women’s volleyball earned the No. 2 seed in the GLVC Tournament, and will face off against No. 7 seed Indianapolis in the quarterfinals on Friday (Nov. 17) at 5:30 p.m. CT in Williamsville, Ill.
