Five Vikings Earn All-Conference Honors, Arredondo Collects Special Accolades

Kansas City, MO – The Heart of America Athletic Conference released the 2022 Men’s Volleyball All-Conference honorees along with special awards today, March 24. Five Vikings earned All-Conference honors along with Francisco Arredondo collecting Setter and Player of the Year accolades. 

Francisco Arredondo | Setter of the Year | Player of the Year | 1st-Team

Along with his first-team all-conference recognition, Arredondo also earns Setter and Player of the Year honors. The senior averaged 10.92 assists per game, recording a season-high of 66 assists versus Jamestown back in February. Arredondo was equally as effective in other areas of play. The Viking posted 19 service aces, 81 digs, and 27 blocks thus far.

Danny Wong | 1st-Team

The versatile Wong finished regular-season play as the middle hitter for Grand View. He has totaled 194 kills, hitting 2.52 kills per set. Wong is also a defensive threat for the Vikings as he leads his team with a total of 68 blocks, 24 solo, and 44 assists.

Daniel Galili | 2nd-Team

Galili earns second-team honors after leading the Viking offense with 239 kills on the season, averaging 3.14 kills per set. The outside hitter also leads in service aces with 42 total and is second on the team for most digs with 97.

Bayron Valdez | 2nd-Team

Another strong force on the pin is Valdez who garnered second-team honors. Valdez has tallied 193 kills, averaging 3.06 kills per set. With 404 attack attempts, Valdez posts a hitting efficiency of .275. The sophomore has also chipped in defensively with 68 digs and 25 blocks.

Erick Villar-Cordero | 2nd-Team

Wearing the libero jersey, Villar-Cordero is the force behind the Vikings defense this year. The Junior has recorded 222 total digs, averaging 2.81 digs per set. Villar-Cordero posted a season-high of 19 digs versus the Pride of Clarke back in January.
