Florida Volleyball Welcomes Transfer Aniya Madkin

Gators add the former Arkansas outside hitter to their 2025 roster.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida volleyball announced on Thursday the addition of outside hitter Aniya Madkin to the 2025 roster. Madkin will arrive to Florida for the spring 2025 semester as a redshirt sophomore after spending two seasons at Arkansas.

“Aniya is one of the top outside hitters in the SEC and will be able to step in the right away and fill our biggest need, said Florida’s Head Coach Mary Wise. We’re thrilled she chose to play her remaining three years as a Gator.”

Following her redshirt-freshman year, she was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after leading the Razorbacks in kills during the 2024 season. She started in 22 matches and was named back-to-back SEC Freshman of the Week on Oct. 6 and Oct. 14, 2024.

Her father, Wayne Madkin, has SEC experience as well, having a productive football career from 1998-2001 at Mississippi State. A 2016 Mississippi State Hall of Fame honoree, no quarterback in State history won as many games as Madkin. He guided MSU to three consecutive bowl games as a starter, including the 1999 Cotton Bowl, 1999 Peach Bowl and the 2000 Independence Bowl.

Madkin is the first transfer to join the Gators for the 2025 season. Florida signed De’Andrea McMillian last month and recently announced the addition of Devin Dzienny.

Why Madkin chose the University of Florida

“From the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. The energy was electric, and I was immediately drawn to the competitive environment that pushes you to be your best every day. I knew this was more than just a place to play; it was a place where I could grow both on and off the court. The sense of community, the support from coaches and teammates, and the opportunities to challenge myself academically and athletically made it clear that this was the perfect fit for me. I saw a future here where I could build lifelong connections, achieve my goals, and leave a lasting impact.”
