Four Lady Vols Set to Attend USAV WNT Open Program

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – For the second consecutive year, Tennessee volleyball is sending several student-athletes to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this weekend as they take part in the Women’s National Team Open Program (WNTOP).

Morgahn Fingall, Keondreya Granberry, Sydney Jaynes and Caroline Kerr are set to join more than 200 women’s volleyball players from around the country for the Open Program. For Fingall, it is her second trip to the WNTOP – she was selected to attend the WNT Spring Training Camp following last year’s workout, which led to her being named to the 2022 U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.

The Open Program runs February 24-26.

The WNT Open Program is used for consideration for selection to both the U.S. Women’s National Team and the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team. In 2023, members of the U.S. Women’s National Team will compete in the following events: Volleyball Nations League, Paris Olympic Qualifier, Pan American Cup and NORCECA Continental Championship.

The three-day event includes skill-specific drills and activities as well as match play throughout the weekend.

More than 45 top volleyball coaches will also be at the Training Center to help run the program and evaluate the athletes. They will join U.S. Women’s National Team staff including Head Coach Karch Kiraly, Assistant Coach Erin Virtue (head coach at Michigan), Assistant Coach Tama Miyashiro and Assistant Coach Alfee Reft (head coach at UCLA).

Olympic gold medal setter Jordyn Poulter and U.S. Women’s National Team libero Morgan Hentz will also appear at the program.

Tennessee volleyball has deep ties with USA volleyball as current graduate assistant Andrew Strick worked with the men’s national team during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Strick has also been named as a coach for the WNTOP.

Associate head coach Tyler Adams has also spent time working and coaching men and women within USA volleyball in several different roles.
