Four Lewis Players Named AVCA NCAA DII Women's Volleyball All-Midwest Region


LOUISVILLE — The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Wednesday (Nov. 29) that four Lewis women’s volleyball players were named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team.  Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg), Lauren Stenman (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) and Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) were all named to the first team and Bella Ray (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was awarded honorable mention. 

Schlechte has played and started in all 32 contests for the Flyers this season and led the team with 405 kills and ranked second with 407 digs. 

Stenman has seen action in all 32 matches this season while starting in every one and has recorded 1,266 assists thus far, which ranks No. 5 in NCAA DII. 

Van Loo saw the floor in every match in 2023 while recording 394 kills, which ranked second on the team, on a .366 attack percentage. 

Ray played and started in 24 matches for Lewis this season, picking up 251 kills and leading the Flyers with 100 blocks.

All four players selected were All-GLVC First Team honorees. 

Lewis begins the 2023 NCAA Division II Tournament Thursday, November 30 as the Flyers take on No. 6 seed Rockhurst starting at noon. Follow the action with the links on our website.
