Four Wolverines Named to Academic All-District Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Seniors Amber Beals and Jess Robinson, redshirt junior Hannah Grant and sophomore Jacque Boney of the University of Michigan volleyball team were named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the association announced on Tuesday (Nov. 22).

Each Wolverine is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America teams that will be announced at the end of November.

Beals hails from Columbus, Ohio, and is majoring in Applied Exercise Science. The senior has seen action in 20 out of the 28 matches played so far. In the match against Utah Tech on (Aug. 27), Beals set a new career-high 14 digs, while also adding two assists. Against North Carolina, she collected her second double-digit dig match on the season. This is her first time receiving this honor.

Six-foot-two Robinson hails from Troy, Mich., and is majoring in Public Policy. During this season, Robinson has never dropped out of the top three in the NCAA for hitting percentage. The senior led the NCAA in hitting percentage the first eight weeks of the season and is currently third with a .438 hitting percentage. She set a new career high in kills against Loyola Chicago (Sept. 3), where she hit .480. Robinson also leads the team in blocks with 112 and has had 11 matches with double-digit kills. This is Robinson’s first time receiving this honor.

As the Wolverines’ libero, Grant has started and played every set at her position this season. The Northville, Mich., native, leads Michigan with 4.45 digs per set and ranks first on the team with 41 service aces. Grant has recorded 25 double-digit dig efforts this season, including eight performances of 20 or more digs, her most recent coming against Maryland last Saturday (Nov. 19) when she collected a career-high 32 digs. This is Grant’s second time receiving this honor.

Sophomore Boney hails from Brookhaven, Ga., and is majoring in Business Administration. Boney was named the Big Ten co-Player of the Week (Sept. 26) after the first week of Big Ten Play, when Michigan swept both Rutgers and No. 9 Penn State. In the match against Rutgers, Boney recorded a career high kills with 14 and hit a staggering .813 clip….
