Gallaudet's Emily Wright named United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 26 and Gallaudet University junior Emily Wright (Penn Valley, Calif.) was named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.

Last year’s United East Rookie of the Year showed she still is dominant as Wright helped her squad to a 2-3 record this week. The right side hitter racked up 56 kills across 15 sets played, averaging 3.7 per set. Wright concluded the weekend hitting .348 from the floor eclipsing the double-digit kill mark in four of her five matches. Wright also added six blocks to her superb week at the net.

Penn St.-Berks freshman libero Riley Kovach was named United East Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after she guided the Nittany Lions to a 2-2 week and tallied 76 digs in 16 sets played.
