Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, August 29, 2023 – Team officials from 14 teams participating in the 22nd Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship at Chartchai Hall and The Mall Korat’s MCC Hall from August 30 to September 6 assembled here in Sima Thani Hotel for the General Technical Meeting.
Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang presided over the meeting, with all Control Committee Members, 15 AVC-nominated referees, the organisers, team officials, distinguished guests and the medias in attendance.

Thai people and Nakhon Ratchasima residents in particular are very delighted to welcome all of you to this championship. We are committed to serving all of you best to make the 22nd edition of the Asian Senior Women’s Championship one of the memorable successes. I wish you a nice stay with us in Nakhon Ratchasima and the very best of luck in your competition,” Mr Somporn was quoted in his welcome speech.
The meeting, conducted by AVC Coordinator Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Executive Director, was held to check if all is set for the eight-day championship, which will simultaneously take place at the 5,000-seater Chartchai Hall inside the Chalerm Phrakiart Sports Complex and MCC Hall inside The Mall Korat Shopping Department Store.
A strong field of 14 teams will strut their stuff in the top-tier championship, vying for top honor and accumulated points for FIVB World Ranking, a crucial pathway for teams determined to secure their berths in the next year’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The participating teams comprised Mongolia, Australia and hosts Thailand in Pool A, with India, Iran and defending and consecutive two-time champions Japan in Pool B. Pool C comprised Korea, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, while Pool D consisted of Kazakhstan, Hong Kong China, China and Philippines.
Teams will compete in pool round-robin preliminaries, with only top two teams from each pool advancing to the Top 8, split into Pool E (A1, A2, C1, C2) and Pool F (B1, B2, D1, D2). Lower-ranked sides will be relegated to Classification Round for 9th-14th places, with teams finishing 3rd in Pool A and 3rd, 4th places in Pool C contesting Pool G and those finishing 3rd in Pool B and 3rd, 4th places in Pool D competing in Pool H.
