Oskaloosa – The Graceland University women’s volleyball team began their season with the William Penn Tournament!
vs. Waldorf University (14-25,15-25,20-25)
In the first match of the day, Graceland had the lead early on with three points. After Waldorf University took control and led a steady lead against the Yellowjackets until the end of the first set, 14-24.
Out of the gates, Waldorf scored twice in the second set. The Yellowjackets kept close behind at the beginning but would take a devastating loss to Waldorf, 15-25.
In the final set, Graceland pushed forward and was leading the scoreboard until the last half where Waldorf tied the two. With points close throughout the last half, Waldorf pushed through with a five-point lead, 20-25.
In the match, Graceland hit .115 compared to Waldorf University at .280 attacking percentage.
vs. William Woods University (25-20,25-19,20-25,17-25,8-15)
Graceland’s first set against William Woods was a tight one with William Wood taking the lead, by one point throughout the set. Graceland tied ten times, but untimely came out the victors with a five-point lead, 25-20.
In the second set, Graceland held the lead the entire set with the points taking off after Graceland’s 9th point. Where Graceland kept a lead of two or more points at any given time, giving them the win at 25-19.
In the third set, Graceland started strong but fell behind William Woods early on. With the score close from then on the Yellowjackets completed the set, ending in a five-point win for William Woods, 20-25.
The Yellowjackets were on the board first starting the fourth set. With many ties at the beginning, William Woods took the lead and ended the set with a significant lead, 17-25.
With a 2 to 2 win, the Yellowjackets went into a fifth set. Graceland tailed close behind William Woods but ultimately lost the set with an ending score of 8-15.
In the match, Graceland hit .206 compared to William woods at .154 attacking percentage.
vs. Iowa Wesleyan College (25-13,25-20,26-24)
In the first match of the day, Graceland played a close opening set with Iowa Wesleyan College. The Yellowjackets trailed a majority of the set and were tied four times
before taking the lead halfway through the first set. Ending with the winning set ending at 25-13 for Graceland.
