ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women’s volleyball team hung tough with in-region power Eastern University here Friday evening in a non-conference match. The host Eagles won in straights but GU almost took the second set in a close 20-25 battle. In the end, EU won 25-9, 25-20, 25-15 to begin the Eastern University Quad weekend.
Gallaudet (2-4) junior setter Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) passed out 16 assists and made five digs and one ace. Junior Emily Wright (Penn Valley, Calif.) tallied seven kills while junior Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) and freshman Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) added six kills each. Wright and Lummer added one block solo apiece in the loss.
Eastern (3-2) was led by Hannah Pringle’s 13-kill performance and received nine kills from Bridgette Kelly while Elle Jiron-Bujanda passed out 26 assists.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet will play two matches tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 10) against Elizabethtown College (4-0) and McDaniel College (1-2) at noon and 2 p.m., respectively.
