Historic Season Ends Against No. 4 FSU in NCAA Tournament

GULF SHORES, Ala.—  The University of Washington Beach Volleyball team’s historic year came to a close in a heartbreaking loss to No. 4 Florida State University 1-3 on Friday.

In their first appearance ever in the NCAA tournament appearance, the Dawgs pushed the Seminoles to three sets with three different pairs, but it wasn’t enough. Zoey Henson and Lauren Wilcock (No. 2) picked up UW’s only match win in the dual before FSU closed it out.

Today’s dual in the National Championship tournament brought to an end the Huskies’ strongest beach volleyball season ever. The team reached new heights as a program achieving their highest ranking.

The Huskies’ year began with an unprecedented eleven new student-athletes on the team–three transfers and eight freshmen. All three transfers made an immediate impact by joining the starting lineup. By the final month of the season, five freshmen were regular starters in the lineup, and will likely be returning next year. The Huskies only graduated four players this year, setting them up for another run at an NCAA appearance again next year.

With 132 appearances, Senior Scarlett Dahl closed out her run as a Beach Dawgs with the most appearances in history.
