Hoffman, Powell Repeat As All-Americans

SEATTLE – Seniors Claire Hoffman and Ella May Powell completed their AVCA All-America collections with two more honors today, closing their Husky careers as two of the most decorated players in school history. Hoffman was named to the All-America Second Team, while Powell received Honorable Mention.
 
Powell becomes a four-time All-American in her five seasons. She was a Third Team selection in 2019 and 2021, and First Team in 2020. The Fayetteville, Ark. product equals Christal Morrison as the only two Huskies with four All-America recognitions.
 
Hoffman lands on the Second Team for the second time, as she was also named Second Team in 2020, and she was a Third Team selection last year. With her third All-America honor, Hoffman also joins an elite group of Husky outside hitters with three or more All-America honors. Morrison again leads the way with four, and Krista Vansant is the only other Husky OH to make three All-America teams.
 
This marks the 21st season in a row that Washington has put at least one player on the top three All-America teams. The Huskies have also had multiple All-Americans in nine of the past 10 seasons.

 

Hoffman concluded her stellar career with her most productive season yet, leading the Dawgs with 4.25 kills per set and 493 for the season, while hitting .272 and ranking among the conference leaders in aces per set with 0.41. The Pleasant Hill, Ore. native tied her career-high with 2.05 digs per set as well. Hoffman finishes sixth in UW history with 1,571 career kills, and fourth all time with 151 aces. She scored 1,811.5 total points for the Dawgs, fourth-most since 2000.

 

Powell set the record for most sets played in Husky history with 586. She finished ranked second in UW history, third in Pac-12 history, and 14th in NCAA history with 6,218 assists. Powell also wound up as the Husky career aces leader with 162. As a senior, she was more effective than ever with her own attack, as she averaged a career-high 0.72 kills per set and hit .384. Powell averaged a career-high 2.38 digs per set and finished with 1,370 career digs, sixth-most in school history and more than any non-libero. She set the Huskies to a .284 attack percentage this season, the 14th-best mark nationally and seventh among Power Five…
