Hokies volleyball announces addition of Sarah Gomish to coaching staff

BLACKSBURG – Hokies volleyball announces the addition of Sarah Gomish to the coaching staff, Thursday afternoon. Gomish joins the Hokies’ staff after a three-year stint as an assistant coach with the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.

“We are excited to add Sarah to our staff,” head coach Marci Byers said. “Her passion for volleyball is clear and her desire to make an impact in the lives of the young women she coaches is undeniable. She is a rising star in our business and I am glad she chose to call VT home!”

While with Lehigh, she mentored two All-Patriot League second team selections, outside hitter Megan Schulte and middle blocker Emily Stewart, in 2022. She also served as Lehigh’s recuriting coordinator. Gomish spent a shortened 2020 season with Fairleigh Dickinson, where the program saw their first All-NEC First Team selection in a decade.

Prior to Fairleigh Dickinson, Gomish spent a season as a graduate assistant coach with Bloomsburg University, a Division II program in Pennsylvania. In her only season on the staff, she coached libero Alyssa Cianciulli to All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors, as well as from the AVCA and Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA).

Gomish also spent the final season of her collegiate career with Bloomsburg, leading the Huskies in kills and points in the program’s first year of operation. She spent the first three years of her playing career at Lock Haven University, amassing 867 kills and 757 digs with the Bald Eagles as an outside hitter.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Lock Haven, and a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Bloomsburg.
