UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two Penn State women’s volleyball seniors were named AVCA All-Americans on Wednesday. Kaitlyn Hord was voted to the second team, while Jonni Parker landed a spot on the third team.
Hord has been a regular on the AVCA All-America Team during her four seasons at Penn State. She made the first team in 2019 and the third team in 2021. The middle blocker added an honorable mention in 2018. Hord ranks third in the nation in total blocks (165) and sixth in blocks/set (1.40). Additionally, she ranks third in the Big Ten with a .394 hitting percentage.
Parker has also racked up All-America honors during her four years as a Penn State right-side hitter. This marks her second time making the third team, adding to the honor she won as a freshman in 2018. She was an honorable mention as a sophomore and junior. Parker is one of the most versatile players in the Big Ten, ranking fourth in total kills (448), fifth in total points (514.5), sixth in kills/set (3.76), sixth in points/set (4.32), sixth in total attacks (1,209) and eighth in attacks/set (10.16).
Hord and Parker led Penn State to a 21-11 record this season and its 41st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Penn State is the only program in the nation to compete in every NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship since its inception in 1981.
Penn State has had at least one player earn All-America honors in 20 straight seasons.
