Houlihan, Hawks, Winder talk NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship

We gathered to talk about Tuesday’s National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship that begins with Tuesday’s quarterfinals in Long Beach State’s Walter Pyramid.

The matchups, which can only be seen on NCAA.com:

11 a.m. Pacific — No. 1 UCLA vs. No. 8 Fort Valley State
1:30 p.m. Pacific — No. 4 UC Irvine vs. No. 5 Penn State
5 p.m.  Pacific — No. 2 Long Beach State vs. No. 7 Belmont Abbey
7:30 p.m. Pacific — No. 3 Grand Canyon vs. No. 6 Ohio State

Arielle Houlihan, dirctor of the Bay to Bay boys club and wife of Stanford assistant coach Matt Houlihan. She is invested into the NCAA men’s game, but also a most-entertaining, candid social-media sensation. Follow her on Instagram (116K followers) and TikTok (114K) @ariellehoulihan.

Pepperdine coach Jonathan Winder, whose team not only played UCLA and Grand Canyon in the MPSF, but also Belmont Abbey. The Waves were No. 10 in the last AVCA top 20. Winder won an NCAA title as a player at Pepperdine in 2005 and just finished his second season after returning to his alma mater after coaching the women at Fresno State.

Loyola Chicago coach John Hawks, whose Ramblers played UCLA and Ohio State. He is a former longtime UCLA assistant coach who was the 2023 MIVA coach of the year. Loyola finished ranked No. 12 this season.

And VolleyballMag editor Lee Feinswog, who is excited to cover his first NCAA men’s semifinals and final since 2015.
